Explore The Hidden Corners Of NYC At Open House NY 2019

Open House New York (OHNY), the annual event that opens closed doors of the coolest, most obscure, and most architecturally interesting buildings in the city to the public, will be held the weekend of October 18th. Reservations for the tours (which take place in all five boroughs) are open starting October 8th at 11 a.m. here; the full lineup will be announced on October 1st, but you can get a preview of what’s popping open below.Some of the highlights of this year’s event include new buildings and projects completed this year (25 Kent, Fotografiska, The Equitable Building at 120 Broadway), returning favorites (Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice, United Nations Headquarters), special programming (Factory Friday, Open Studios, Brooklyn Navy Yard) and a special design presentation and performance at the new TWA Hotel. Here are some of OHNY’s picks: NEW SITES 277 Mott, a new ground up core and shell project by Toshiko Mori Architect with a twisting front facade that appears to shift to approaching pedestrians. 25 Kent, the first commercial building of its type erected in North Williamsburg in more than 40 years.
