Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Almost 5,000 people tuned in to see the new all-electric Lordstown Endurance pickup truck debut on the digital stage today. The virtual presentation was very 2020, with elbow bumps instead of hand shakes (but few if any masks), and the discussion was really about the future. “Our goal is to be the first electric pick-up truck in the world,” said Lordstown Motors CEO Steve Burns. Even though there will be a number of other electric trucks coming to market soon – the Tesla Cybertruck, the Ford F-150, the Rivian and Bollinger models – and “We are going to beat every one to market,” Burns said. “We will have the best traction of any pick-up truck ever made. Of course we are getting the best fuel economy of any pick-up truck ever made.” Burns said one reason the Endurance will be so efficient is because of the truck’s hub motors. Hub motors have been tested in a number of EVs from other companies, but never put into mass production in a passenger vehicle.
