Ad volumes on radio in the second half of calendar 2020 registered a 13 percent drop compared to 2019 indicating a recovery during the unlockdown period (H2, 2020). The TAM AdEx-Mirroring Y 2020 for Radio Advertising report said 2018 witnessed growth of three percent in ad volumes of radio and 2020 saw 33 percent decline compared to 2016. Q4’20 recorded five times rise in radio ad volumes compared to Q2’20. During 2020, there were more than 10600 brands present on radio. More than 4900 advertisers and 6500 brands exclusively advertised during 2020 compared to 2019 on radio. Three of the top 10 exclusive brands belonged to the auto sector.Prime time (18:00 to 22:59) was the most preferred time-band on radio followed by morning (09:00 to 11:59) and afternoon (12:00 to 15:59) time-bands. Turkey slapped advertising bans on Twitter, Periscope and Pinterest over their non-compliance with a controversial new law that requires social media platforms to appoint legal representatives in the country. The law - which human rights and media freedom groups say amounts to censorship - forces social media companies to maintain representatives in Turkey to deal with complaints about content on their platforms. Companies that refuse to designate an official representative are subjected to fines, followed by advertising bans and could face bandwidth reductions that would make their platforms too slow to use. Facebook avoided the advertising ban after it announced Monday that it had begun the process of assigning a legal entity in Turkey, joining LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Dailymotion and the Russian social media site VKontakte, which have agreed to set up legal entities in Turkey. Turkey on Tuesday slapped advertising bans on Twitter, Periscope and Pinterest over their non-compliance with a controversial new law that requires social media platforms to appoint legal representatives in the country. The law - which human rights and media freedom groups say amounts to censorship - forces social media companies with more than one million users to maintain representatives in Turkey to deal with complaints about content on their platforms. Companies that refuse to designate an official representative are subjected to fines, followed by advertising bans, and could face bandwidth reductions that would make their platforms too slow to use.
