Is there a future for independent boutique hotels in Singapore?

Suffice it to say that the hospitality market in Singapore is in a constant state of flux, particularly when it comes to independently-run boutique brands. Earlier this month, Hotel Soloha welcomed its first guests , as did KeSa House a few months earlier. In Dec 2018, Six Senses Maxwell opened its doors , just eight months after sister property Six Senses Duxton made its first foray in the city-state. That said, 2018 also bore witness to the sale of Wanderlust Hotel, Unlisted Collection’s last remaining boutique property in Singapore, following 2017’s closure of Hotel New Majestic and 2013’s sale of Hotel 1929. Amid the current challenges facing the hospitality industry, we spoke to Unlisted Collection’s Loh Lik Peng, as well as Ashish Manchharam – whose firm 8M Collective owns KeSa House – and Satinder Garcha, founder of Garcha Hotels, which runs the two Six Senses properties in Singapore, to find out what’s on the horizon. Unable to cover expenses during Covid-19, owners sell hotels at cheap prices

Many offers to sell coastal hotels in Da Nang have appeared on real estate forums these days. Most of them are located in districts Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son. Hotel Equatorial Penang to shut down over COVID-19 impact

SINGAPORE: Hotel Equatorial Penang will shut down operations by the end of March because of "adverse business conditions caused by COVID-19", the hotel's management announced on Tuesday (Jan 26). "This is a very sad and difficult decision," the hotel's management said in a memo to employees seen by CNA. The last day the hotel will be open for business to the public has yet to be decided, but will be before Mar 31, it added. "Until we officially cease operations, all of you shall remain as employees of the hotel and we remain committed to upkeep the strong heritage and name of Hotel Equatorial Penang," said the management. Borivali: Hotel employee stabbed for helping a customer

Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a hotel employee was stabbed while he went to rescue a customer . The incident took place at a hotel near Borivali railway station on Wednesday morning. He was stabbed as he went to the rescue of a customer who was being taken out of the hotel at gunpoint.
