Apple is making it easier for people to find out how repairable their existing or new iPhone or Mac is going to be. The company has recently started showing a repair index for iPhone and Mac on the Apple Store app and the Apple Online Store in France, as per a report by tech website https://www.macg.co. This information has been made mandatory by the French Government to fight against electronic waste. The repair index will give users insight into the repairability of their Apple devices and figure out how easily their devices can be repaired. According to the report, the repair index is based on five criteria (translated by MacGeneration from French): The availability of documentation (for repair, use and maintenance as well as the period during which this information is made available). Stuck at home? How to still have fun with friends using apps and online services
With the government implementing a slew of measures to further curb the spread of COVID-19, many events and social gatherings have been cancelled. For introverts, that doesn’t sound so bad – after all, an entire day at home, possibly lying in bed most of the time and binge-watching the latest season of your favourite Netflix show sounds, erm, doable. Apple quietly added iPhone and MacBook repairability rankings to its French website
In a nutshell: The right-to-repair movement has taken some positive steps. Apple and Samsung recently began labeling their devices with repairability scores in France. Granted, this became required as of the first of this year. However, the two companies, which have stood against R2R laws in the past, have not complained about the new rules. French law now requires electronics manufacturers to post repairability scores for their products. Apple and Samsung have already started displaying the labels on their websites (below) and in stores (bottom). French media outlet Radio France Internationale notes that manufacturers are allowed to self-report their scores but are bound by strict guidelines. The ratings range from 1-10, with higher scores indicating the device is more readily repairable. Things like ease of disassembly and … [Read more...] about Apple quietly added iPhone and MacBook repairability rankings to its French website

The website, www.singapore-arrival-card.com, "claims to be the electronic arrival card introduced by ICA to replace the paper disembarkation/embarkation card", the authority said. "We would like to clarify that the official SGAC e-service by ICA does not require travellers to make a payment to complete the online submission. "ICA takes a serious view of such fake websites as they undermine public trust in our system and processes," the authority added. ICA said a police report has been made and that it would work to bring the website down as well as continue to monitor the situation. "The ICA would like to advise members of public to exercise caution so that you do not unwittingly fall prey to such fake … [Read more...] about ICA warns of fake SG Arrival Card website, police report made
