Trevor Story has seen his share of late-inning meltdowns by Rockies pitchers at Coors Field. But when the Dodgers loaded the bases in the ninth inning Thursday against closer Daniel Bard, Story wasn’t sweating it. “I have all of the confidence in ‘BarDo’,” the shortstop said after Colorado’s 8-5, opening day victory over the Dodgers. “He’s a special kind and that’s what it takes to be a closer. “Just knowing the work he puts in, not just physically, but mentally, too. He’s a guy I just love playing behind.” Things got dicey for Bard when Max Muncy tripled and Chris Taylor drew a walk to open the ninth. But Bard, his fastball whistling at 100 mph, struck out Edwin Rios looking before hitting Will Smith, loading the bases. But then Bard cooly struck out Matt Beaty looking and got the dangerous Mookie Betts to line out softly to second baseman Chris Owings to notch the save. Dating back to last season, Bard is 7-for-7 in save opportunities for Colorado. It was quite the day … [Read more...] about Rockies’ Daniel Bard stays cool under fire, saves game vs. Dodgers

It’s wild how many great updates Genshin Impact has gotten already
When Genshin Impact first launched last year, it was astounding that such an enormous and gorgeous RPG could be totally free and work on both PC and mobile. But what amazes me now is how rapidly developer MiHoYo has expanded the world of Teyvat in the seven months since. MiHoYo has put out four major updates since Genshin Impact's release back in September, and each one has added new regions, bosses, minigames, festivals, quests, characters—hell, Genshin Impact even has dating sim mode where you spend some quality time with four of its collectible heroes. These updates aren't just skin-deep additions. Each of the characters you can court in the dating sim mode, for example, has branching dialogue trees with multiple endings to discover. It's wild . And that's just the big stuff. Every week or so there's also some kind of mini-event going on to entice players to keep coming back. Altogether it makes Genshin Impact a lively game that always feels like it has something new going on. … [Read more...] about It’s wild how many great updates Genshin Impact has gotten already

New York lawmaker wants to ban police use of armed robots
New York City councilmember Ben Kallos says he "watched in horror" last month when city police responded to a hostage situation in the Bronx using Boston Dynamics ' Digidog, a remotely operated robotic dog equipped with surveillance cameras. Pictures of the Digidog went viral on Twitter , in part due to their uncanny resemblance with world-ending machines in the Netflix sci-fi series Black Mirror . Now Kallos is proposing what may be the nation's first law banning police from owning or operating robots armed with weapons. "I don't think anyone was anticipating that they'd actually be used by the NYPD right now," Kallos says. "I have no problem with using a robot to defuse a bomb, but it has to be the right use of a tool and the right type of circumstance." Kallos' bill would not ban unarmed utility robots like the Digidog, only weaponized robots. But robotics experts and ethicists say he has tapped into concerns about the increasing militarization of police: their … [Read more...] about New York lawmaker wants to ban police use of armed robots
