The star of the internationally-acclaimed Kiwi web series High Road has not only had his previous misadventures repackaged into eight half-hour shows but fresh stories are on their way later this year. Created by former member of famed New Zealand band The Chills, Justin Harwood, High Road focuses on anti-hero Huffer (Human Traces' Mark Mitchinson), a former English rockstar who has washed up in Piha in order to reconnect with long-lost daughter. In an attempt to ingratiate himself with the local community, he starts up a caravan-based radio station, a move that doesn't impress everyone. Gunman kills 8 before taking own life at FedEx site in US
A gunman shot eight people dead and injured several others at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis before taking his own life, police said early on Friday (April 16). The incident occurred at a FedEx operations centre near the Indianapolis International airport, after 11pm local time on Thursday night. Indianapolis police spokeswoman Genae Cook said the authorities had responded to a report that shots had been fired and "arrived to an active shooter incident." "Preliminary information is that the alleged shooter has taken his own life here at the scene," she said, adding that there was no longer any threat to the community. Four people were transported to hospitals, one in critical condition with gunshot injuries and three others with various other injuries, she said. Two more were treated at the facility itself by medical staff and released, while "multiple" others had walked in to hospitals nearby, she added. Most Britons Will Struggle to Adjust to Life After Lockdown: Poll
Britons continue to express their love of lockdown , with a poll revealing almost half will struggle to adjust to a life of freedom after restrictions are lifted. After spending a year under various forms of restrictions or lockdowns, 49 per cent have admitted that they will find it hard to “adjust back to how life was before March 2020”, with 42 per cent responding to the Thursday YouGov poll saying they would find it “easy”. By sex, women in the majority said they would struggle (56 per cent) compared to 43 per cent of men. Younger people were the most likely to find it difficult, with 56 per cent of 18- to 24-year-olds saying they would struggle, compared to just one-third who said they would find it easy. Of the general population who said they would find it hard, most, more than one-third, said they would struggle with “Being out in public with other people/crowds”, followed by 16 per cent who said they would have a hard time socialising. 21-year-old man sentenced to life in prison for Southmoor Park area shooting death
A 21-year-old man was sentenced Thursday to life in prison, with a possibility of parole after 40 years, for his part in a Denver home invasion in which a resident was shot dead. Dmarco Blake, who was 17 at the time of the Southmoor Park neighborhood incident, was found guilty by a jury on Wednesday of first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, according to a district attorney’s office news release. The jury deliberated for a day and a half. On May 15, 2017, Blake was one of four people who broke into a home, the release said. NEW YORK — The brother of Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernández was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday after he was convicted on drug charges. Juan Antonio "Tony" Hernández, a former Honduran congressman, was sentenced in Manhattan federal court by U.S. District Judge P. Kevin Castel, who also ordered him to forfeit $138 million. Hernández was convicted in October 2019 of charges that carried a mandatory minimum sentence of 40 years in prison. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Laroche told the judge that Hernández for 15 years fueled a flood of cocaine shipments into the United States by paying millions of dollars to top Honduran officials like his brother.
