Football: Pogba still out with thigh injury, says United boss Solskjaer

LONDON: Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has not recovered from a thigh injury and will remain sidelined for a few more weeks, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said. Pogba was injured in United's 3-3 draw with Everton on Feb 6 and has since missed five games in all competitions. United will also be without Daniel James for Sunday's (Feb 28) Premier League trip to Chelsea after the midfielder picked up an injury in Thursday's 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad in the second leg of their Europa League tie. United advanced to the last 16 by virtue of their 4-0 win in the first leg. In more positive injury news, Solskjaer said striker Edinson Cavani, and midfielders Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek could return to the side. "Paul is still out for a few weeks unfortunately," Solskjaer told MUTV. "Scott, Donny and Edinson we hope that they can be available for the weekend, but I'm not sure. "He (James) felt a tweak. With the intensity he works at he felt something, so we … [Read more...] about Football: Pogba still out with thigh injury, says United boss Solskjaer

‘We don’t have fixed income’: Returning migrant workers in Indonesia call for targeted aid

JAKARTA: It has been about seven months since Indonesian Arumi Marzudhy returned to her hometown Blitar in East Java province, after working in Singapore as a domestic helper for about four years. She had been planning to go back to Indonesia since October last year, but her employer asked her to extend her tenure. But when the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 as a pandemic last March, she decided to return to Indonesia a month earlier than initially planned. “The pandemic broke out and the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs appealed to Indonesians to return home immediately, so I decided to go back a month earlier than initially planned,” Mdm Marzudhy told CNA. Upon returning, the 32-year-old decided to work on her family’s small business selling snacks which was previously run mainly by her mother. United to hold talks with Cavani on contract extension – Solskjaer

REUTERS: Manchester United will hold talks with Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani over extending his stay at the Premier League club, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said. Cavani joined United on transfer deadline day in October on a year-long deal with an option for a further year following his exit from Paris St Germain. The 34-year-old was widely seen as a "panic signing" by British media but with seven goals and two assists in 24 games in all competitions he has impressed Solskjaer. "I can only say Edinson has done well," Solskjaer said before Sunday's home game with Newcastle United. "He's really gelled in the group and we'll sit down and speak with him in the near future to see his plans and ours. It's a good discussion to have. "We always speak to the players and, with the contract situation at the moment, we're very pleased with what he's done." Solskjaer added that Cavani and midfielder Donny van de Beek, who both missed Thursday's 4-0 first-leg win at Real … [Read more...] about United to hold talks with Cavani on contract extension – Solskjaer

Football: Solskjaer banking on Man Utd strikers to fire heading into Sociedad test

LONDON: Manchester United's strikers have not scored enough goals this season and they must start firing if the club are to find an extra edge in matches, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said on Wednesday. United lead the Premier League with 50 goals in 24 matches but their front three of Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have scored only 18 combined, while midfielder Bruno Fernandes tops the charts with 14 strikes. "We are the team who have scored the most goals in the league. Our strikers haven't scored as much as we'd like to, that's a good problem," Solskjaer told reporters ahead of Thursday's Europa League last-32 tie against Real Sociedad. "If we can get them firing we'll have another edge in the games. They are working hard and doing well in training." Mason Greenwood had his breakout year last season with 10 league goals and though the 19-year-old said he could adapt to any position across the front three, Solskjaer said he could even play as a number … [Read more...] about Football: Solskjaer banking on Man Utd strikers to fire heading into Sociedad test
