Are Asians really less prone to skin cancer? Or are we missing the early signs?

The next time you’re out in the sun and worrying about getting dark, remember: The very pigment or melanin that gives us our unique skin tone is what’s offering us protection. “Simply put, melanin is the skin’s natural defence against UV rays,” said Dr Calvin Chan, the medical director of Calvin Chan Aesthetic & Laser Clinic. “Melanin helps to dissipate some UV light into heat, thus blocking UV radiation from reaching and damaging skin’s DNA.” Of course, we know that excessive UV radiation isn’t good for us. Some of us are also under the impression that we are less likely to develop skin cancer because of said built-in personal sunblock. After all, most skin cancer reports are usually about fair-skinned folks from the other side of the world, right? Photograph: ISL/Twitter NorthEast United FC sealed a playoff berth with a 2-0 win over Kerala Blasters in an Indian Super League match at the Tilak Maidan, in Vasco, on Friday. Jamil fielded an unchanged XI from their previous game while Kerala Blasters had one change with Sandeep Singh preferred over Subha Ghosh. The Highlanders got a great opportunity soon after the start. Luka’s Last Minute 3-Pointers Lift The Dallas Mavericks Over Celtics 110-107

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — It was all about the last second shots and this time Maverick Luka Doncic slammed the scorer’s table in joy, not anger. The Dallas sensation hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 0.1 seconds remaining — his second go-ahead 3 in the final minute — and the Mavs avoided a fourth-quarter collapse in a 110-107 victory over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night. READ MORE: 'Don't Mistake Kindness For Weakness,' Dallas Police Chief Praises Officers After Drug Bust The Celtics trailed by 11 points with three minutes to go before Jaylen Brown put them in front in the final minute with a short jumper. Doncic answered with a difficult 3 over 6-foot-8 Daniel Theis before Brown pulled Boston even at 107-all with another bucket. Doncic did it again — this time with Kemba Walker running at him on a step-back shot from the left wing — and turned to the scorer’s table in the same way he had after a last-second loss to Phoenix. Devin Booker hit the go-ahead shot in the final … [Read more...] about Luka’s Last Minute 3-Pointers Lift The Dallas Mavericks Over Celtics 110-107
