North Korea says Trump wrote to Kim, offered coronavirus cooperation
REUTERS: North Korea on Saturday (Mar 21) welcomed what it said was a letter from US President Donald Trump to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, saying it was a sign of "the special and very firm personal relations" between the two leaders despite recent frictions. The statement by Kim's sister Kim Yo Jong came a day after the nuclear-armed North fired what appeared to be two short-range ballistic missiles off its east coast on Saturday, the latest such action it has taken this year. "In the letter, he... explained his plan to propel the relations between the two countries of the DPRK and the US and expressed his intent to render cooperation in the anti-epidemic work," an apparent reference to the coronavirus pandemic, Jong said in the statement reported by the North's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). North Korea fires 3 projectiles: South Korea military
SEOUL: North Korea has fired three projectiles, Seoul's military said Monday (Mar 9), a week after it launched what the South said appeared to be two short-range ballistic missiles . Three devices were fired eastwards over the sea from the Sondok area in South Hamgyong province, the South's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement. "The military is monitoring for additional launches and maintaining readiness," it added. Monday's launch was the North's second weapons test in a week. After last week's launch the North's state media said leader Kim Jong Un had overseen a "long-range artillery" drill but it was not clear if those two incidents last week were the same. North Korea accused European nations of "illogical thinking" on Saturday after they called a closed-door United Nations Security Council meeting to condemn the launches. The latest launch came days after Kim sent a personal letter to the South's President Moon Jae-in, offering "comfort" for the rapid … [Read more...] about North Korea fires 3 projectiles: South Korea military
