LONDON: Seven-time European champions AC Milan hit back from two goals down against Celtic to claim a 4-2 victory that sent them into the Europa League knockout phase on Thursday (Dec 3) as they were among 14 teams to progress in Europe's second-tier competition. PRAGUE: A second-string AC Milan side clinched top spot in Europa League Group H after a first-half goal from Norwegian forward Jens Petter Hauge gave them a 1-0 win at 10-man Sparta Prague on Thursday (Dec 10). Milan finished on 13 points from six games, two more than Lille who lost 3-2 at Celtic but had also clinched a place in the second-tier competition's last 32 alongside the Italian seven-times European champions. Sparta finished third on six points and Celtic were left rooted to the bottom of the standings despite winning their first match of the campaign. Hauge netted the winner after a fine solo run in the 23rd minute, beating two defenders with neat footwork before he steered the ball into the far corner with a crisp low shot. PRAGUE: Seznam.cz, the Czech Republic's leading home-grown web search platform, said on Thursday it had claimed 9.072 billion crowns (US$417 million) in damages from Google, alleging that the U.S. giant restricted competition. Seznam said Google abused a dominant position on the Czech market with licensed operating systems and application stores for smart devices equipped with Android operating system. A spokeswoman for Google, a unit of Alphabet, said it could not comment as it had not yet received the claim. "Based on the European Commission's decision back in 2018 which confirmed that Google was in breach with EU antitrust rules, we claim the compensation of damage that we have suffered while trying to distribute our applications and services via mobile devices with Android operation system," Seznam deputy chairman Pavel Zima said. Seznam said Google abused its dominant position on the Czech market with licensed operating systems and application stores for smart devices equipped with Android operating system. "Based on the European Commission’s decision back in 2018 which confirmed that Google was in breach with EU antitrust rules, we claim the compensation of damage that we have suffered while trying to distribute our applications and services via mobile devices with Android operation system," Seznam deputy chairman Pavel Zima said. REUTERS: Athletes will be allowed to wear shoes still under development in international competitions and events where World Athletics rules apply, upon approval of the shoes' specifications, after a rule change by the sport's governing body. The shoes will have to meet the same technical specifications as other approved shoes, World Athletics said. The amendment - rubber-stamped by the World Athletics Council on Friday - applies to competitions sanctioned by World Athletics, area associations or member federations at which its rules apply. But such "development shoes" will not be permitted in the World Athletics Series or at the Olympics.
