M.I.A. Launches GoFundMe Page to Aid Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
M.I.A. has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to aid those affected by the recent volcanic eruption of La Soufrière in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. “I’ve never set up a crowdfunding page before, but as you may know Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has been very close to my heart,” she wrote on her Instagram. “I wrote my first song there. Since going to Sri Lanka is out of the question for political reasons, it’s been my island away from my island for the last 20 years.” “La Soufrière has caused massive devastation on a scale that has not been witnessed by the residents in the last 40 years,” she continued. “The situation today is that there’s been power cuts and water scarcity. Everything is covered by ash. The volcano is still erupting and there could be further ongoing damage.” The musician wrote that short-term supplies are needed — from blankets to hygiene kits — and that the cost of living is extremely high due to tourists. “It is also very hard for local people … [Read more...] about M.I.A. Van der Dussen, Fakhar likely to return in third T20I
PREVIEW - SA V PAK, 3RD T20I by Telford Vice • Last updated on Share Tweet Fakhar Zaman was ruled out of the second T20I due to a "minor allergy on his left leg" © AFP Mohammad Rizwan doesn't suffer first-ball foolery often. It's befallen him only four times in his 77 innings for Pakistan across the formats, and just once when he has been entrusted with opening the innings. That happened in the second T20I at the Wanderers on Monday, when George Linde induced a stroke that saw the ball follow the curve of an upturned pudding bowl as it blooped to mid-off. So ended a streak of 10 innings in the format - half of them for the Multan Sultans in the PSL - in which Rizwan had passed 40. He scored a century and six half-centuries, four of them higher than 70, in those trips to the crease. The South Africans would have needed no reminding of his T20I prowess: he has made his hundred - a 64-ball undefeated 104 in Lahore in February … [Read more...] about Van der Dussen, Fakhar likely to return in third T20I

The Kiwi has been nursing the injuries since a mountain bike crash last month, with an aggressive recovery process centred around hyperbaric treatment limiting the affect its had on his packed racing schedule. Remarkably he has only missed one event since the crash, the GT World Challenge Australia round at Phillip Island. Two weeks after undergoing surgery he took three wins from three Supercars races at Sandown, before heading to Mount Panorama another fortnight later to win a GT race and claim the Bathurst Triple Crown with a win in the six-hour production car race on the same weekend. Giving an update ahead of this weekend's third Supercars round of the season at Symmons Plains, van Gisbergen explained his collarbone is largely pain free. However the same can't be said of the broken ribs, only found after his three wins at Sandown , which continue to give him grief. Despite the pain he's resisting painkillers, to help chart his recovery without the … [Read more...] about Van Gisbergen off painkillers since Sandown
The Sopranos cast now – tragedy, failed music career and vegan pasta sauces
The Sopranos has been heralded as the best series of all time. The American crime drama first burst onto our screens in January 1999 and due to its incredible popularity ran on HBO for a whopping 86 episodes until 2007. Despite going down in history as one of the best TV shows ever devised, the creator of the cult Mafia series did reveal it almost never got made because the first script didn't feature a single episode. Thankfully, David Chase completely rewrote the show and added some brutal deaths - with 88 unfortunate souls losing their lives across six seasons. At the centre was the late, great James Gandolfini as mob king Tony Soprano, who struggled to balance family life while running a dangerous criminal organisation. While several of the show's cast members were famous before they joined it propelled many into stardom and made household names out of Gandolfini, Edie Falco and Lorraine Bracco. The Sopranos paved the way for other violent crime shows and without … [Read more...] about The Sopranos cast now – tragedy, failed music career and vegan pasta sauces
